The updated Porsche Macan is made for buyers who outlive a Cayman but don't want to give up the Porsche badge and the driving pleasure that comes with it. As a result, the Porsche Macan is simply a fun but reasonably practical SUV. It even has a more pleasing design for those who personally find the Cayenne bulky.

From its first world launch ten years ago, the Porsche Macan has become a big seller for its manufacturer. It's a smaller and more affordable option than the Stuttgart brand's other SUV, the Porsche Cayenne, and rivals hot versions of the Audi SQ5, Mercedes-AMG GLC, and Jaguar F-Pace.

There is no fully electric version and no plug-in hybrid in the Porsche Macan yet. It is currently offered for sale with four or six-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine options and three different equipment options. Compared to the others I have told you on these pages (S and GTS versions), even the slower model scares hot hatches at the start of traffic lights, while the S and Porsche Macan GTS versions can complete 0-100km's in less than 5 seconds.

While the Macan's teeth are pretty long, Porsche likes to smooth and sharpen their products throughout their lives, and this one is no exception. To keep the Porsche Macan competitive against younger rivals, it has undergone two significant facelifts: the most recently introduced fine-tuned exterior and an overhauled interior.

So, is the Porsche Macan the best sports SUV on sale in our country today? Let's find the answer to this question to determine how we evaluate its performance and interior quality, how practical it is, whether the operating costs are reasonable, and which version is the best. The height and reach of the adjustable steering wheel and 8-way electrically adjustable driver's seat are standard on the Porsche Macan. That's why it's easy to adapt your ideal driving position. In addition, the front seat will drop down a bit to give you a sports car feel, and its position is more natural than on its platform counterpart, the Audi Q5.

The main controls, including temperature and fan speed, are easy to find. But some smaller ones are operated via touch-sensitive buttons on the center console. This may not seem like a problem to you. But you won't find them by feeling how you can find them with physical buttons, so you have to look away from the road to use them. It also reflects the glossy black surface they are on. The striking sunlight makes the symbols challenging to read. The precise color screen, which can show everything from sound and travel information to the navigation map, is next to the clear indicators.

The Porsche Macan offers an excellent forward vision by sports SUV standards. The windshield pillars aren't more expansive than most rivals, and although they slope relatively backward, they don't obscure your view too much at intersections and roundabouts. The relatively large door mirrors also provide good visibility for lane changes on the highway. Front and rear parking sensors are standard on all models.

Among other standard equipment in the Macan series is the satellite navigation, digital radio, Bluetooth, USB connection, 10.9-inch color touch screen, and 150-watt sound system with ten speakers. Although Apple Car Play is available, the absence of Android Auto may upset those who use this operating system. However, you don't need to spend a fortune on optional leather upgrades to make the Macan feel worthy of the prestige badge.

There's plenty of room at the front in the sleek silhouette of the Porsche Macan, and drivers even 1.80+ don't feel surrounded. You can get two fixed cup holders conveniently placed just in front of the cushioned armrest that can be slid forward or back and serves as a cover for the middle compartment. There are two USB-C sockets in the same container. So it's perfect for keeping your phone out of sight. The Macan has less rear legroom than most competitors, including the Audi Q5 and BMW X3. Tall passengers can find their knees rubbing against the front seats, while anyone in the middle will have to find room for their feet on either side of the large main floor tunnel.

The boot floor of the Porsche Macan is flush with the loading lip, making it easy to stow items inside. At 500 liters, it's not the largest in its class, but it's adequate. Helpful touches include a cargo net attached to the underside of the sturdy load compartment cover, a 12V outlet, a hook for hanging shopping bags, and a recessed compartment with a net holder perfect for storing smaller bottles. In addition, you can open the tailgate without a key by pressing a button hidden under the rear wiper.

The new Porsche Macan has an engine with a volume of 1,984 cc, producing 265 hp and 400 Nm of torque, and can accelerate from 0-100 km / h in 6.4 seconds. The maximum speed of the car is 232 km / h. Whichever version of the Macan you get comes standard with an excellent seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (called PDK). The Macan is distinctly sports-oriented, and even in its traditional form, it feels more solid than the best-driving SUVs. However, it's also compatible enough for everyday use, especially if you avoid checking the option box for larger, optional alloy wheels.

Above all, sports SUVs should be fast and fun, and the Porsche Macan certainly fulfills these points. Especially when equipped with air adaptive suspension, it can instantly transform from a comfortable cruiser to a road racer with the flick of a button. The interior quality is also impressive, and in light of all that we've written, I can say that it's a good SUV for daily use.

We can say that the Porsche Macan is a sporty SUV designed for keen drivers, unlike most of its competitors.
